Slovenian cellco Si.Mobil has announced that it will complete a project to upgrade half of its GSM network to 3G UMTS-900 technology by the end of this October, reports Seenews.com. The upgrade will enable maximum transfer speeds of up to 21Mbps (implying that the operator will deploy HSPA+ technology) while utilising the wider propagation properties of the 900MHz frequency band to spread broadband internet across rural areas.
