Numericable snapped up by Apax and Deficom

4 Jul 2011

Numericable has sold its Belgium and Luxembourg operations to a consortium of private equity firm Apax Partners and Deficom Telecom, a joint venture of Deficom and Altice. Apax and Altice will hold 40% of Numericable’s share capital each, with the remaining 20% held by Deficom. The value of the deal has not yet been disclosed but is rumoured to be in the region of EUR500 million (USD726 million). The consortium believes that Numericable has excellent prospects for growth in the Benelux (Belgium, Luxembourg and Netherlands) area, and intends to focus on its triple-play broadband, cable TV and fixed line telephony offers.
