4 Jul 2011

Romanian telecoms regulator ANCOM has announced that it instructed the country’s mobile operators to reduce roaming charges for calls to other EU member states – as well as Norway, Iceland and Liechtenstein – starting on 1 July. Roaming charges must drop to no more than EUR0.35 (USD0.51) per minute for outgoing calls and EUR0.11 per minute for incoming calls. Previously, the standard charges stood at EUR0.39 per minute and EUR0.15 per minute respectively. The cost to send a text message abroad remains unchanged, at EUR0.11, whilst receiving a text message is free.
