A number of leading Brazilian telecoms companies have signed up to the government’s National Broadband Plan (PNBL), Reuters reports citing the Minister of Communications, Paulo Bernardo, as saying. The companies involved are Telemar Norte Leste (Oi), Telefonica Brazil (including Telesp), Algar Telecom (formerly CTBC) and Sercomtel. The PNBL aims to deliver broadband access of 1Mbps across the country for BRL35 (USD22) per month. The aforementioned companies are expected to begin offering low-cost broadband services within 90 days.
