TDC selects Huawei to build optical transportation network

24 Jun 2011

Chinese telecoms solution provider Huawei has been chosen by Denmark’s incumbent telco TDC to build its national and pan-European optical transportation network (OTN) with Huawei’s Dense Wavelength Division Multiplexing (DWDM) solutions. The improved transmission network will enable TDC to provide end-users with a better quality experience with fast growing services that require high bandwidth, such as high definition (HD) television, video conferencing and gaming. Under the six-year contract, Huawei will deliver end-to-end solutions through its widely deployed NGWDM series, including Access, Metro and Long Haul DWDM. ‘In order to strengthen our market position in transmission of data, telephony, broadband, TV and integrated business solutions, we are modernising and continuing the build-out of long-haul metro and access fibre infrastructure,’ commented Carsten Dilling, group COO of TDC, adding: ‘We have selected Huawei as vendor of DWDM solutions based on their high technology solutions, flexibility and competitive total solution.’ TDC’s pan-European network stretches across northern and western Europe, including a number of cities including Helsinki, Stockholm, Oslo, Copenhagen, Amsterdam, Frankfurt, Paris and London. The improved OTN will enable TDC to meet future demands of network evolution to support business expansion, improving operational performance and meeting cost targets.
