T-Mobile Montenegro has announced extensive network upgrades to begin next year. T-Mobile has been chosen to replace the equipment of all 350 of its base transceiver stations (BTS), with the latest technology from Ericsson, writes Telecompaper. The new multi-standard equipment, which replaces the existing 2G and 3G infrastructure, will enable the deployment of 4G, offering greater capacity and faster data transfer speeds. The upgrade is expected to begin early 2012 and aims to be completed by June that year.
According to TeleGeography’s GlobalComms Database, at the end of March 2011 T-Mobile was Montenegro’s second largest wireless provider by subscribers with 36.1% market share and 393,735 subscribers.
