PLDT-Digitel takeover set to miss 30 June deadline

23 Jun 2011

The Business Mirror reports that Philippine Long Distance Telephone Company (PLDT) and Digital Telecommunications Philippines Inc (Digitel) are unlikely to meet their target deadline of 30 June to conclude a takeover. The paper reports that on its second day of hearings on the matter, the National Telecommunications Commission (NTC) has decided to schedule further hearings in the second week of July. According to PLDT head of regulatory affairs and policy, Ray Espinosa ‘It was Globe [Telecom] that requested this, and we are giving them the opportunity to cross-examine our witnesses because we have nothing to hide.’
