21 Jun 2011

South Korea’s Samsung Electronics Co has signed a contract with Japan’s second largest telecoms group KDDI Corp for the provision of Long Term Evolution (LTE) solutions in the country. The pair hope the deal will result in a commercial launch of LTE services in 2012. Samsung has been working with KDDI to provide commercial CDMA systems in Japan since 2002. Moreover, by working with Japanese mobile WiMAX provider UQ Communications, a KDDI affiliated company, Samsung strengthened its strategic partnership with the firm in 2008.
