Unconfirmed reports have emerged that Telenor was the third party to enter a bid for Polkomtel. The Norwegian telco had originally planned to bid as part of a consortium with asset management firm Bain capital, although that deal seems to have fallen through at the last minute. An anonymous source close to the sale claimed that the situation was ‘fluid’ and Bain may re-enter the process at a later date. Local sources also speculate that media mogul Zygmunt Solorz-Zak, long the favourite to win the battle for Polkomtel, has entered the highest monetary bid, and remains on track to acquire the company when the results are announced next week.
