eMobile, the mobile division of Japan’s eAccess Group, will start selling smartphones in the summer, thanks to a partnership deal with Chinese manufacturer Huwaei Technologies, the Nikkei business daily writes. It is understood eMobile will begin by selling two Huawei-brand devices – the first smartphones offered by the vendor in Japan – one of which will run on the Google Android operating system. The paper reports that eMobile is targeting its voice communications business as it looks to grow its overall subscriber base to 3.85 million by 31 March 2012.
