Globe Telecom of the Philippines has upgraded its nationwide network backbone, the Manila Times reports. The telco added that as a complementary process, it has improved its recovery plan, designed to reduce network disruptions in the event of natural disasters. It hopes that improvements to the disaster recovery plan will also realise a speedier turnaround when it comes to restoring the worst affected services. In a statement Globe says it has extended fibre-optic coverage in the Mindanao region as well as installing added protection for the backbone network in Zamboanga. Additionally, the operator confirmed the completion of a network modernisation project in South Luzon.
