Hellas Online makes steady LLU progress, slightly faster growth than ForthNet

31 May 2011

Greek alternative telco Hellas Online has issued a statement showing that its total fixed broadband customer lines in service reached 424,636 at 31 March 2011, up from 324,000 a year earlier. Local loop unbundled (LLU) services accounted for the bulk of subscriptions, with LLU-based broadband customers reaching 415,415 at the end of the first quarter, up from 312,000 twelve months previously. The take-up rate was slightly faster than at Greece’s largest alternative fixed network operator, ForthNet, which added around 102,000 LLU customers in the same twelve-month period. Hellas Online also reported that its EBITDA in the first three months of 2011 was EUR15.0 million (USD21.4 million), up from EUR11.2 million in the year-ago quarter, on revenues that climbed 16% to EUR56.4 million.
