Hutchison Global expands network in south east Asia

24 May 2011

Hong Kong-based fixed communications operator Hutchison Global Communications (HGC), part of the Hutchison Whampoa group, has expanded its network presence across several south east Asian countries in the Greater Mekong Subregion (GMS). HGC’s full range of network and data services were extended to the GMS region in January 2010 and now serve carriers based in the region, as well as global carriers and enterprise users, with connectivity linking Vietnam, Thailand, Laos, Cambodia and Myanmar. The GMS network includes both submarine and terrestrial cable routes with multiple physical redundancies, connected to HGC’s core global network to provide diverse routes from the GMS to the rest of Asia, Europe and the US, as well as to facilitate interconnections throughout nations of the subregion. HGC says its portfolio of business customers in the GMS has widened recently, and includes multinational corporations in manufacturing, banking and financial institutions, telecommunications operators and news agencies, as well as small and medium enterprises.
