Vodafone Hungary extends 3G footprint to Lake Balaton and four more counties

19 May 2011

Vodafone’s Hungarian mobile unit has announced plans to upgrade its 2G networks with 3G technology in five new areas, Lake Balaton and its environs, and the counties of Fejer, Vas, Veszprem and Zala. As a result of the 3G upgrade, end users will benefit from a doubling in maximum data transfer speeds, it said. In addition, Vodafone is rolling out EDGE technology to areas that currently have no mobile broadband coverage. The upgrade is slated for completion by 30 June 2011.
