MTS 1Q11 net profit rises 24.8% to RUB13.2 billion

According to Interfax, Russian cellco Mobile TeleSystems (MTS), the country’s largest mobile operator by subscribers, has announced revenues of RUB55.3 billion (USD1.97 billion) for the three months ended 31 March 2011; this figure represents an increase of 12.3% year-on-year. Of that total, wireless revenues continued to provide the lion’s share of sales, growing 10.5% to RUB53.65 billion. MTS saw its net profit for the first quarter rise 24.8% to RUB13.2 billion. MTS has yet to release a full earnings statement for the period, or issue any official subscriber data for 1Q11.
