18 May 2011

Slovak ISP and alternative telco Slovanet has bought fellow wireless broadband licensee WiMAX Telecom (Slovakia) for EUR950,000 (USD1.35 million), reports Telecompaper. The purchased company was previously a division of Austria-based WiMAX Telecom. Slovanet, which operates services over a range of fixed and wireless technologies, has rolled out services based on 10.5GHz BFWA in 50 cities and towns, mainly focused on business users, whilst WiMAX Telecom was issued spectrum in the 3.5GHz band. The purchase is Slovanet’s second acquisition this year, after earlier buying local provider M-Elektronik.
