Kyivstar reaches 46 cities and towns with FTTB ‘Home Internet’

16 May 2011

Ukrainian cellular and broadband operator Kyivstar has expanded its ‘Home Internet’ fixed broadband services – offered via its integration with sister operation Beeline Ukraine – to 46 cities and towns. The latest city to get coverage of the fibre-to-the-building (FTTB) service is Melitopol, where Kyivstar has deployed a 16km fibre-optic network, reaching 90 multi-residential blocks with 9,500 households, reports Telecompaper. Home Internet offers up to 100Mbps broadband speeds. Beeline residential broadband customers were passed over to Kyivstar on 15 February 2011, and continued to receive services based on the same terms and conditions as previously. Parent Vimpelcom has said that the Kyivstar brand name would replace all Beeline-branded mobile and fixed/broadband services by the end of 2011.
