All four bidders still in race for Polkomtel

Reuters reports that the owners of Polkomtel will hold further talks with all four bidders in what could be Europe’s largest telecom buyout in years, quoting a source close to the process. Four Polish state-controlled firms – KGHM, PGE, PKN Orlen and Weglokoks – and British wireless group Vodafone are selling Polkomtel in an auction which is expected to raise PLN18 billion (USD8.45 billion). Sources told Reuters earlier this month that TeliaSonera, Polish media mogul Zygmunt Solorz-Zak, private equity firm Apax Partners and a joint venture of Telenor and Bain Capital were in the running. All the parties declined to comment.
