5 May 2011

Palestinian fixed line incumbent Palestine Telecommunications Company (Paltel) has reportedly inked an MPLS inter-carrier interconnection agreement with PCCW Global Limited, a subsidiary of Hong Kong-based telecoms provider, PCCW Limited. Under the terms of the deal, which the two companies claim will strengthen coverage in the Middle East and beyond, Paltel and PCCW Global will cooperate with a view to providing MPLS services via the latter’s infrastructure, which covers some 1,500 cities in 110 countries across the globe. Commenting on the development, Abdul Majeed Melhem, Paltel’s general manager, noted: ‘Paltel’s agreement with PCCW Global is an important milestone in our roadmap of the year 2011. Paltel is now able to provide world-class international connectivity service for its customers, enabling them to securely and effectively connect their business offices across the world. Paltel clearly identifies the value such services bring in integrating the Palestinian businesses with the rest of the world, at the time when the Palestinian economy is flourishing towards a stable and sustainable growth.’
