Hungary’s minister for development Tamas Fellegi yesterday confirmed that the government hopes to auction licences for additional mobile frequencies in the third quarter of the year, with new regulations designed to realise this due to enter into statute by end-June. Under the tender, the state intends to allocate additional spectrum in the 900MHz band, with Fellegi remaining pragmatic on whether or not this will result in a new player entering the market. ‘Whether there’s room for a fourth player on the Hungarian mobile market, the market itself will decide,’ he said.
