PT Telekomunikasi Indonesia (Telkom) posted net profits of IDR3.82 trillion (USD446 million) for the three months ended 31 March 2011, up from IDR3.78 trillion a year earlier, aided by a small increase in revenue to IDR16.71 trillion from IDR16.36 trillion previously. The company, Indonesia’s largest telecommunications operator by customers, reported a 2.1% year-on-year rise in operating income to IDR350 billion, driven by higher revenue from data, internet, and information technology (IT) services, it said. Assets as at 31 March 2011 were IDR100.7 trillion, compared with IDR99.8 trillion in the same period a year earlier.
Telkom closed out the first quarter with 99.4 million mobile customers, up 21.3% y-o-y, while fixed line users increased 11.1% to 27.0 million, mainly the result of a 17.3% rise in fixed-wireless accounts to 18.7 million. Internet subscribers climbed 39.6% to 1.8 million.
