Digital Telecommunications Philippines (Digitel), which offers mobile services in the country under the Sun Cellular brand, has released additional information on its operating results for the three months to 31 December 2010. As reported last month by CommsUpdate, Digitel reported a sharp, 65% year-on-year rise in consolidated net profits in FY2010 to PHP429.6 million (USD9.9 million) from PHP259.7 million previously, fuelled by significant growth in its wireless subscriber base. Group revenues swelled 18% y-o-y to PHP16.54 billion, driven by a 27% rise in mobile revenues to PHP10.33 billion. Sun Cellular closed out 2010 with 14.04 million wireless users, up 29% y-o-y. Of the total, post-paid users topped 1.22 million, including 1.07 million 2G and 150,000 3G customers. The cellco also had 12.82 million pay-as-you-go SIMs, broken down as 12.71 million 2G and 110,000 3G users.
