Spice Nepal’s Ncell brand breaks five million subscribers barrier

Mobile operator Spice Nepal Private Ltd, which is 80% owned by TeliaSonera and offers wireless services under the Ncell brand, has reportedly signed up its five-millionth user. The achievement is significant considering it only had 2.412 million users when it dropped its Mero Mobile brand name in favour of the moniker Ncell in March last year. ‘We are very glad to have reached this position,’ Ncell chief executive Pasi Koistinen is quoted as saying. ‘As load shedding is a big challenge, Ncell is going green in regional rollout and 50% of new sites in regions will be solar powered,’ he added.
