ZTE to deploy HSPA+ for China Unicom

ZTE has inked a deal with China Unicom which will see the vendor upgrade the operator’s wireless networks in seven cities. HSPA+ will be deployed in Changchun, Ningbo, Wuhan and four other unnamed cities, boosting theoretical peak downlink speeds from 14.4Mbps to 21Mbps. Unicom says that its spending on its 3G infrastructure will rise 24% to RMB19.5 billion (USD2.3 billion) this year.
