ABR Telecom reports 1.22m number portability requests completed in 1Q11

Brazil’s telecoms standards coordinator Associacao Brasileira de Recursos em Telecomunicacoes (or ABR Telecom) says a total of 1.22 million Brazilians had their numbers ported during the first quarter of 2011. The figure represents year-on-year growth of 19.61% on the 1.02 million numbers ported during the same period a year ago. Since number portability was introduced in the country in September 2008 a total of 9.2 million portability requests have been actioned, broken down as 6.2 million mobile and three million fixed telephony numbers.
