The CEO of Bahraini alternative telco 2Connect has been joined in angry protest by high profile international corporate clients at the recent decision by the country’s telecoms regulator to revoke the company’s operating licence. UAE-based newspaper The National reports that if the TRA enacts its decision to suspend 2Connect’s services, clients affected will include Citibank, BNP Paribas, Icap, Bloomberg News and the US government. CEO Fahad al Shirawi said that profits at 2Connect are in the ‘millions of dinars’. Mr al Shirawi owns 25% of the company, with the remainder largely owned by Saudi Arabian shareholders.
