Dow Jones Newswires reports that the government of Hungary is looking to auction new licences in the 900MHz band for mobile services, possibly before the end of the third quarter. The auction is one of several options currently being explored by the development ministry, which plans to decide on the exact timing to the auction ‘soon’. The government is also looking to begin drafting legislation that would require the winners of the 900MHz frequency auction to adopt the W-CDMA 3G standard in future.
