NBN Co inks deal with TE Connectivity for NBN equipment

NBN Co, the public-private company set up to oversee the construction of the country’s National Broadband Network (NBN) has selected TE Connectivity to supply network connectivity products for the infrastructure rollout in a five-year deal worth approximately AUD400 million (USD406 million). Under the terms of the deal NBN Co has initially agreed to a purchase commitment of AUD100 million, with TE Connectivity supplying patch cords, feeder cables, drop cables, splice closures, multi-port terminals and other components needed to construct the superfast fibre-optic network. Commenting on the development, NBN Co’s head of corporate services, Kevin Brown noted: ‘This is the final of four passive optical network equipment contracts that now completes the suite of components we need for the NBN fibre construction rollout. We are pleased to have been able to attract a range of suppliers committed to working with us to meet our needs and timeframes.’
