Maxis Communications has posted revenues of MYR8.9 billion (USD2.9 billion) for 2010, up 3% year-on-year. EBITDA grew 1.8% to MYR4.4 billion while net income was up 2.8% to MYR2.3 billion. The growth in sales and profitability was driven by higher demand for wireless broadband, internet access and other non-voice services, although the company did warn that exact like-for-like comparison was not possible due to a change in the accounting method. CAPEX stood at MYR1.4 billion for the year, up from MYR1.2 billion in 2009, on the back of the ongoing HSPA rollout. The company’s mobile subscriber base increased 14% to 13.9 million at the year end.
