MCMC to bolster telecoms infrastructure in Kelantan

24 Feb 2011

The Malaysian Communications and Multimedia Commission (MCMC) has announced that it will construct 60 more telecommunication towers in Kelantan, according to Bernama. The regulator has said that the rollout of the new equipment, which will cost an estimated MYR60 million (USD19.45 million), will cover several districts in the state, all of which currently have limited telecoms coverage. MCMC director for the east region, Mohd Shafie Harun, noted that 21 telecommunication towers have already been built under the first phase of the project at a cost of some MYR21 million. ‘After the 60 towers are completed, the people in Kelantan will be able to enjoy better broadband service,’ the executive noted.
