Digitel Mobile to double Mindanao cell sites this year

14 Feb 2011

Digitel Mobile Philippines, which offers mobile services under the brand name Sun Cellular, has announced plans to add more than 500 cell sites on the island of Mindanao to bolster its presence there. According to senior vice president William Pamintuan the cellco hopes to have deployed around 1,000 cell sites in Mindanao by the end of this year to improve coverage and signal quality. The firm is placing a strong emphasis on targeting areas such as Davao, General Santos, Cagayan de Oro and Zamboanga, he said in a statement. Pamintuan went on to say that the additional cell sites would also result in better mobile broadband services in Mindanao.
