SingTel: aggregate mobile base up 34% in 2010

Singapore Telecommunications Ltd (SingTel), South-East Asia’s biggest telecoms group, today reported that its global mobile user base grew by 34%, or 98.1 million users, last year. As at 31 December 2010 SingTel and its associates in Australia, Bangladesh, India, Indonesia, Pakistan, the Philippines and Thailand had nearly 383 million mobile subscribers, up from 285 million a year earlier, the company said in a statement. The group’s biggest affiliate, Bharti Airtel in India, had 199.6 million mobile customers at the end of last year, including more than 42 million from its operations across the African continent. SingTel will publish its results for its fiscal third quarter ended 31 December 2010, on Thursday.
