On 26 January 2011 Armenia’s Public Services Regulatory Commission (PSRC) issued a ban for outgoing international VoIP calls, panArmenian.net reports. The regulator quotes ArmenTel spokesperson Anush Beghloyan as saying that the move is designed to protect mobile operators from fraud. It is hoped the resolution will secure network operators from the illegal actions of some individuals and companies. It will also protect ArmenTel from ‘dishonest providers’ leasing connection channels from operators. Last year the PSRC fined two providers for illegal termination of VoIP calls.
