Hot on the heels of the announcement that its Australian unit was seeing strong subscriber growth, international mobile virtual network operator (MVNO) Lycamobile has revealed that it has now signed up more than 210,000 customers at its Spanish operation. Having launched commercially in Spain in October 2010, Lycamobile also noted that the telecoms regulator there, the Telecommunications Market Commission (CMT), has agreed to grant it additional number ranges as a result of the rapid growth. Commenting on the development, Milind Kangle, Lycamobile’s CEO, said: ‘We continue to grow the Lycamobile brand in all of the markets in which it is present. I am delighted with our growth in Spain and would like to thank our customers and channel partners for their loyalty and support. We are committed to providing our customers with fantastic affordable call rates such as our current offer of EUR0.01 (USD0.01) national landline and EUR0.01 international calls to over 25 countries.’
As at February 2011 Lycamobile had a presence in the UK, Belgium, Denmark, The Netherlands, Spain, Sweden, Norway, Italy, Australia and Switzerland, and the company claims to have signed up more than 6.5 million customers since first launching back in 2006.
