Wind speeds up; gusts of up to 60Mbps recorded in LTE trial

4 Feb 2011

Canadian cellco Wind Mobile has announced the successful completion of a live trial of 4G Long Term Evolution (LTE) mobile broadband services. Orascom-backed Wind, which currently operates over an all-IP, HSPA-based 3.5G network, said test users have experienced average download speeds of 50Mbps-60Mbps and improved speed while multitasking (including tasks such as concurrent e-mailing, web browsing and file downloads). It added that LTE will deliver faster speeds (up to 100Mbps) with lower latencies and ‘superior customer experience’ with strengthened coverage and seamless handovers between cell sites.
