Japanese behemoth Nippon Telegraph and Telephone Corp (NTT) says it will trim the connection cost for its fibre-optic services by up to 31% over the next three years. Its regional operating division NTT East will decrease its fees by 27% while NTT West will lower them by 31%, the two companies said in a press conference.

In a related story, the telco’s mobile arm NTT DoCoMo has also released details of plans to lower the fees it charges other mobile phone carriers to use its communication lines by up to 35.6% for services used in 2010/11. The cellco has filed a memo to the communications ministry concerning its decision. The charges covered include call charges billed to mobile phone users, and will be reviewed every fiscal year.
