Mena Telecom, a Bahraini WiMAX-based wireless broadband voice and data service provider, has extended a managed services contract with Motorola as part of a continued investment in WiMAX network expansion. TradeArabia News Service reports that the agreement was first signed in July 2007 for two years to plan, deploy and manage the nationwide 802.16e-based mobile WiMAX and IP Multimedia Subsystem (IMS) network in Bahrain. The extension will enable Mena to continue expansion of its WiMAX network, and Abdul Razak Jawahery, the operator’s managing director, said that with Motorola’s WiMAX solution, Mena’s infrastructure will be compatible with technology that can be embedded in numerous future devices, including laptops and mobile phones. Mena’s solutions include high speed internet access with unlimited downloads; VPN access; carrier pre-selection (CPS) telephony; International Private Leased Circuit (IPLC); Multi-Protocol Label Switching (MPLS) and call centre hosting.
