SingTel ups stake fractionally in soon-to-be 3G Bharti

Singapore Telecommunications (SingTel) has fractionally increased its stake in India’s largest telecoms company by both revenues and customers, Bharti Airtel, by an additional 0.11%. SingTel acquired shares worth INR1.36 billion (USD30.2 million) from the open market, increasing its interest to 32.15% from 32.04%. Separately, Bharti Airtel has revealed it intends to launch 3G services ‘very soon’, but without releasing a target date.
