Vodafone Qatar signed up a total of 711,000 mobile customers by 31 December 2010, according to a statement from the company, representing growth of 18%, or 110,000 net new subscribers, over the fourth quarter. The UK-Qatari venture, which launched less than two years ago, claims 100% 2G coverage of the Middle Eastern state and has also deployed a 3G UMTS 2100MHz and 900MHz network providing coverage to 98% of Qatar’s population, whilst it now carries over five million minutes of calls every day. The last three months have seen new product launches including Money Transfer and a Facebook credit reload application, in addition to the introduction of a specialised service range for business customers.
