Global talk is cheap

4 Jan 2011

Taiwanese WiMAX operator Global Mobile will launch mobile voice services on its network during the first week of 2011, after the National Communications Commission (NCC) gave its approval for the release of WiMAX phone numbers for voice communication services, reports the Taipei Times. If the company meets the target, it will become the first 4G operator in Taiwan to offer the service which it is hoped will give its subscriber base the required boost. Global Mobile can currently claim around 10,000 subscribers, far fewer than the 30,000 anticipated by end-2010. Global Mobile chairperson, Rosemary Ho, has said that the company is aiming to attract 160,000 new subscribers by the end of 2011, rising to 250,000 in 2012.
