The Bangkok Post reports that state-run telco TOT opened the sale of bidding documents yesterday for its 3G nationwide network expansion project worth THB19.98 billion (USD667 million), with the window to purchase documents closing on 27 December. Purchasers are required to submit their technical and financial proposals to TOT by 10 January along with the details of their creditor banks, with an e-auction scheduled for 28 January. The set of documents costs THB500,000. TOT senior executive vice-president for mobile business Kamthon Waithayakul said that after signing a contract with the winning bidder it would begin deploying equipment in key areas within 180 days. He said the project spending will comprise three parts: THB17.44 billion for procurement of network equipment for the national rollout, THB2 billion to upgrade the existing network and THB540 million as a reserve. 13 provinces are earmarked for services in the first stage: Chon Buri, Rayong, Songkhla, Surat Thani, Phuket, Chiang Mai, Chiang Rai, Lampang, Phitsanulok, Udon Thani, Nakhon Ratchasima, Khon Kaen and Nong Khai. The other 59 provinces would be covered in a secondary phase.
