Orange renews trial 2.6GHz LTE-FDD permit

10 Dec 2010

The Telecommunications Office of the Slovak Republic (TU SR) has granted domestic cellco Orange a temporary (six-month) licence to trial mobile broadband data services over a Long Term Evolution (LTE) network using LTE-FDD technology and the 2600MHz radio spectrum band in the Banska Bystrica area. The LTE trial permit renews an earlier concession granted to Orange, whilst rival cellco Telefonica O2 Slovakia also received a similar permit for testing LTE in the same region of the country in March 2010. The regulator stipulated that test operations must avoid interference with existing MMDS-based TV services in the band 2520MHz-2655MHz.
