1 Dec 2010

MTS Uzbekistan has obtained regulatory permission to use radio frequencies in the 700MHz band to expand its Long Term Evolution (LTE) network, according to PRIME-TASS. In July MTS announced the commercial launch of the 4G network, the first of its kind in the CIS and Central Asia. As it stands, the LTE network been deployed in the central part of Tashkent, using frequencies in the 2.5GHz-2.7GHz band. The latest announcement will allow the company to expand network coverage significantly over time. MTS subscribers connected to the 4G network enjoy data transfer rates of up to 100Mbps using LTE-enabled modems. The equipment for the first phase of the network was supplied by Huawei.
