British cableco Virgin Media has revealed that it will expand its fibre-optic network having inked a deal with housebuilder Persimmon Homes, The Independent reports. The agreement between the two companies will see Virgin bring its services to thousands of new properties built by Persimmon, and echoes similar deals that the operator has previously signed with other construction companies. Steve Carlin, director of sales for new build at Virgin Media, said of this latest deal: ‘We have done this on a smaller scale before but for the past 18 months we’ve talked about making it a national play … It makes sense. It is cheaper and easier than digging up the roads.’
