26 Nov 2010

Belgian telecoms regulator, the Belgian Institute for Post and Telecommunications (BIPT), has called on parties keen to acquire 4G wireless broadband frequencies to register their interest, TelecomPaper reports. The regulator has revealed details of its plans to distribute concessions for spectrum in the 3410MHz-3500MHz and 3510MHz-3600MHz band, and has set a deadline of 4 February 2011 for applications. The licences, when they are issued, will be valid for ten years, after which they are renewable on a five-year basis, and will allow winning bidders to offer fixed, nomadic or mobile radio access, with no restriction on the type of technology used to provide service.
