MTS Belarus’ 3G users topped 130,000 in September

Belarusian mobile operator MTS Belarus retained its leading position in the domestic market at the end of September, amassing 4.634 million subscribers at that date, including 130,000 3G/3.5G users. Third-quarter income increased to USD118.1 million, it said, while operational income before fixed assets depreciation deduction and amortisation of intangible assets (OIDBA) stood at USD60.5 million; the OIDBA margin was 51.2%. MTS Belarus reported a sharp rise in minutes of use (MOU) in its fiscal third quarter, to 497 minutes from 470 in 3Q09, while average revenue per user (ARPU) climbed to USD7.8 per month down from USD8.0 a year earlier. SAC for the period climbed to USD17.7 from USD15.5 in 3Q09. Churn was unchanged at 5.6%.
