Bezeq International has request to trial VoC services denied

15 Nov 2010

Bezeq International, the wholly-owned subsidiary of Israeli fixed line incumbent Bezeq, has been told by the Ministry of Communications (MoC) that it cannot trial VoIP-over-Cellular (VoC) services, Globes Online reports. The ministry’s rationale behind denying the trial application is that it would not be able to issue a full VoC licence to Bezeq International as it had not yet considered official guidelines for such services. Further, the MoC has a policy of not allowing subsidiaries or sister companies to operate in the same sector, which would also prevent Bezeq International from offering cellular-based services due to parent company Bezeq’s mobile unit, Pelephone.
