VivaCell-MTS in frame to receive spectrum for LTE rollout

9 Nov 2010

Armenian mobile operator VivaCell-MTS could be poised to secure the necessary radio spectrum frequencies needed to begin the construction of a Long Term Evolution (LTE) network in the capital Yerevan and other regions. The cellco’s case is to be heard when the country’s Public Services Regulatory Commission (PSRC) meets tomorrow, 10 November. If granted, the LTE licence stipulates that VivaCell-MTS would have to launch commercial operations by 1 March 2011. The licence will be valid until 4 November 2019 and will cost AMD990 million (USD2.73 million).
