SLT to make proposals for new 126km highway fibre route

Sri Lanka’s Sunday Island publication reports that the government intends to invite the country’s dominant fixed line operator, Sri Lanka Telecom (SLT), to make technical and financial proposals to install a fibre-optic network along the new 126km southern expressway road. Cabinet approved a recommendation made by the Highways Minister, to deploy a fibre-optic cable which will facilitate a road toll system on the route connecting southern areas to the island’s administrative capital, Kotte.
