EETT fines cellcos EUR5m

8 Nov 2010

Greek telecoms regulator, the EETT, has issued the country’s three mobile network operators with fines totalling EUR5 million (USD7 million) for failing to inform subscribers of billing increases related to ‘minimal talk time charges’ between September and November 2009. Local newspaper Kathimerini, quoted by website Suite101, said that Cosmote and Vodafone were each given fines of EUR2 million whilst Wind Hellas incurred a EUR1 million penalty, after supposedly increasing their minimal talk time charging period from 30 seconds to 45 seconds without adequate notification to customers. The cellcos are planning to appeal the decision.
